CANstruction is the most unique food charity in the world!
Each year architects, engineers, designers, contractors, students, and the local community participate in design and build competitions across the globe to construct fantastic, giant sized, structures made entirely out of canned food. At the close of the competitions in each city, all of the food used in the structures is donated to the local food banks for distribution to community emergency feeding programs.
For 13 years, NK Architects has been an advocate of fighting hunger and poverty through our participation in New Jersey's CANstruction event. Last year's entry, 'Original NJ Transit Newark Subway Train', was created from 17,474 cans and contributed 15,351 pounds of food to help those in need. This year's event will take place November 17th at the Livingston Mall in Livingston, NJ.
If you would like to donate to this worthy cause, please do so by October 10, 2011. As a contributor, your firm will be acknowledged and displayed at our build site; a note of thanks will also be posted on our website and sent through our social media outlets.
A letter of donation will be sent from the Community Food Bank of New Jersey that can be submitted for tax purposes.
The final design is a surprise, but this year's 'CANstruction' theme is 'World Famous.' Which level of fame will you achieve?
