SUNY Downstate’s New Academic Building at the School of Public Health will contain research lab centers which will group researchers with similar interests and goals, healthcare simulation centers, academic spaces for both the School of Public Health and the School of Medicine. The intent is to bring the SPH spaces together as they are currently scattered in a number of locations. The project will be designed to a LEED Silver level at a minimum.
NK Architects teamed with Croxton Collaborative and presented three design responses to the selection committee all of which considered the existing site constraints and the need to add additional program space onto the campus while addressing the mission of the SPH.
