Ambulatory Care

The ambulatory care center must radiate a sense of wellness, comfort and service to meet the needs of ‘active consumers’ rather than passive patients. Often this concept is translated into a design statement that creates an ambiance more closely associated with an elegant hotel rather than a medical building. Rich materials, soft lighting, fresh flowers and a variety of seating areas welcome patients, guests and families. A recent architectural trend is to begin a patient’s experience at the front door, by creating a distinct identity for ambulatory care services.  Although the convenience of care is an important aspect of the ambulatory surgery and care center, planning a new building that leverages existing facilities and improves operating efficiencies for staff will greatly impact a medical center’s bottom line results.
