Education Market Leaders

Stephen P. Aluotto, AIA, CID

Steve is President of the firm and manages NK's Educational Design Group. As Principal-in-Charge for all educational projects, Steve monitors and maintains the team's efforts to ensure that all project milestones are met. He has served as President of the Newark/Suburban chapter of the AIA and on the Dean's Executive Council for NJIT. He is a member of NAIS, NJAIS, SCUP, ERAPPA, and EACUBO and has conducted several workshops on educational planning and design on both the state and national levels. Steve is a graduate of NJIT and has 27 years of experience.

Walter Kneis, AIA, LEED AP

Walter is a Principal in the firm and serves as Director of Project Operations, as well as Associate Market Sector Director for NK’s Educational Design group.  Walter has 29 years experience and has focused his career on projects for education, healthcare, and special needs populations. A member of the AIA, Walter has spoken at local, state and national conferences on a variety of education design topics. Walter is also active in a number of community organizations, serving as a Trustee on the Boards of JBWS (Jersey Battered Women’s Service) and Safety Town of Northwest New Jersey. He is a 1985 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Virginia Tech and holds an A.S. in Building Construction.

Paul Drago, AIA, LEED AP

Paul is a Principal of the firm and the Managing Principal of NK’s New York City office. He has 30 years of experience in the architectural profession and has developed an expertise with projects for colleges and universities, as well as managing numerous healthcare projects. Over the past ten years, Paul has developed an expertise in high technology research laboratory projects and has been instrumental in forwarding sustainable design initiatives at NK.

Daniel Topping, AIA, LEED AP

Dan is a Principal in the firm and serves as Associate Market Sector Director for NK’s Educational Design group. Dan's 15 year career has been focused on the design and management of College and University level projects, including a specialty with advanced University level research facilities. Dan is a graduate of Virginia Tech and a USGBC LEED accredited professional.
