Newark Digital Century Center
Newark, New Jersey

The Digital Century Center, a joint venture between NK Architects and Croxton Collaborative Architects, is a 100,000 gross square foot speculative building intended to attract high-technology tenants with unique information technology requirements. The building will contain research and development space, dry labs, electronic wet-labs, and conference and meeting facilities. The ground floor will include an interactive community center/exhibit space and retail space.

Funded by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority, this project will be a key anchor at the heart of the University Heights Science Park (UHSP) in Newark, New Jersey. It will form the cornerstone for identification with UHSP, as well as defining vehicular and pedestrian access to UHSP and the surrounding community. UHSP is a collaborative venture among Newark's four higher education institutions, the City and Community of Newark, and private industry. Its vision is to harness university science and technology research as a force for urban and regional economic and community development.

"Digital Century Center is being designed as a LEED Platinum certified facility that celebrates sustainability and expresses innovation in technology. From the site's storm water management, rainwater collection, daylighting strategies and green materials to the prominent building-integrated photovoltaic system on the south facade, Digital Century Center hope to engage its users, passers-by, students and community in a dialogue on urban sustainability and technology, while supporting business, career and educational opportunities as a foundation for economic sustainability and vitality.”
