At NK, integrated building design is a cornerstone for developing sustainable, high-performance buildings. By effectively combining building systems, materials and energy flows as interdependent parts of an entire building environment, whole building performance is maximized. This highly collaborative, integrated conceptual framework begins at the pre-design phase and continues throughout the design processes, construction phase and into building occupation.
Designing to any LEED™ Level is a powerful statement of design and performance excellence and can be achieved by utilizing design and construction practices that significantly reduce or eliminate the negative impact of buildings on the environment and occupants.
We begin the design process by first gathering information and conducting research to better understand the broader picture of a project site, both regionally and locally, and other pertinent contextual issues.
By conducting initial design charrette sessions with all stakeholders, the richness and breadth of information and ideas will serve as a springboard to an integrated whole building design process. Sustainable design guidelines will provide the framework to measure the success of design strategies as will the goal of LEED certification.
