Fernando D. Suarez
aiA
senior associate
Fernando’s architectural journey began at an early age, shaped by hours spent building Legos and the creative influence of his artist mother. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture from The Cooper Union, where he had the opportunity to study under some of the discipline’s most visionary figures, including John Hejduk, Peter Eisenman, Raimund Abraham, Elizabeth Diller, and Ricardo Scofidio. He is a licensed architect in New Jersey and a member of the American Institute of Architects.
Before joining NK, Fernando contributed to a wide range of award-winning projects, from luxury residential homes to large-scale developments in education, healthcare, government, and cultural sectors. His strong background in construction supervision, both domestically and internationally, has equipped him with a deep understanding of how design translates into the built environment.
Outside of the office, Fernando is often on the move, sharing shuttle duties with his wife for their son’s and daughter’s many after-school activities. He enjoys traveling the globe with his family, savoring good meals with friends and loved ones, exploring museums and theater, and continuing the cycle of creativity by inspiring his children through Legos and art.
