PROJECT OVERVIEW

This interior fit‑out supports Inspira Health Network’s operational and regulatory needs through the renovation and expansion of the medical center’s pharmacy. Initiated in response to an expiring Board of Pharmacy certification and informed by ongoing master planning efforts, the project strengthens the hospital’s pharmaceutical infrastructure while positioning the facility to meet current guidelines and future service demands.

The scope of work includes the decanting of a former patient med‑surg wing to create a new, larger pharmacy within an existing hospital addition. The approximately 3,800‑square‑foot program includes standard and hazardous receiving areas, an open workroom, compounding space, an anteroom, narcotics storage, staging and pickup functions, and staff support areas. The layout is organized to support clear workflows, regulatory separation, and operational efficiency while responding to the constraints of an older hospital building with limited floor‑to‑floor heights.

Adaptability and flexibility guide the design approach, ensuring the pharmacy can respond to evolving regulatory and operational requirements over time. The space is planned to comply with USP‑797 compounding standards while intentionally accommodating the future addition of USP‑800 hazardous compounding should those services be required. Spatial zoning, infrastructure planning, and environmental controls are coordinated to allow this expansion without disruption to ongoing operations. A large, flexible open workroom supports changing workflows and storage needs, while existing windows are leveraged to introduce daylight into a typically inboard, back‑of‑house program, improving visibility and the day‑to‑day work environment.

The renovated pharmacy delivers a compliant, efficient, and future‑ready environment that supports Inspira Health Network’s clinical operations and long‑term planning goals. The project modernizes a critical back‑of‑house function, delivering an environment that supports regulatory compliance, staff workflow, and the operational demands of a hospital pharmacy.
