Preakness Hall at William Paterson University ribbon cutting

William Paterson University officials gathered on the steps overlooking the campus' central Speert Green to formally cut the ribbon and open their brand new Preakness Hall academic building on Friday, September 29.

The total renovation of the second oldest academic building on campus is the latest piece of a multi-phase, multi-project partnership between WPUNJ and NK Architects to renew an aging campus core. The opening of Preakness Hall comes nearly 18 months after the ribbon cutting of University Hall. The major renovation of the oldest academic building on campus, Hunziker Hall, is currently under way and slated to open in the Fall of 2018.

Congratulations to our team and our terrific clients on achieving this milestone.

We set out to create a space that, by incorporating modern design with the latest technology in higher education, will encourage interaction between students and faculty
— Kathleen Waldron, University President
Even though the bones of this building date back to 1955, I think you will agree with me that it is now a thoroughly modern academic facility, which, like University Hall, will serve William Paterson students well for many generations to come
